New O/S

So I am very very close to finally finishing my first truly angsty piece of fan fiction.  It's being written for the A Love Like Fire contest.

Now the subject matter is something very close to my heart - Infertility.  Having gone through it, I decided to take to heart that old adage - write what you know.   So this fic is my take on that struggle.  My story did not turn out the way the story's does and I take it to an extreme, not unrealistically but more extreme than I would have ever taken it in my real life.   So for anyone who may stumble across this and I'm sure I'll post it on my blog at some point - please note that if you are or have dealt with infertility no matter how severe, I've been there.   It sucks and I hope that you find my story did the topic justice.   I will put a warning at the top, just in case you are sensitive to the subject matter - but I believe that it feels true and not completely over the top.

So if you see my story while you're checking out the other stories for the contest, give mine a whirl.  I hope to have it posted by the end of the week.
Thanks!

The things men will never understand

So I have to admit while my hair is pretty cool, I was a little concerned about what my hubsters was going to say in response to it, as I didn't actually tell him I was doing it.  I was surprised when it took him about five minutes before he even mentioned it.  Okay - he's color blind, so I don't usually expect much.  He asked me if I did something different.  Which I replied that I had and was rebelling against momdom.  He smiled, said "cool" and that was it.

This morning, he saw it in the bright glare of our bathroom and looked a little more concerned.  He asked what color it was.  When I replied that it was orange, he asked why would you color your hair orange?  I just replied that I felt like it.  He shrugged and said, "Ooookay" and left it at that.

Now what he fails to understand is that by funkifying my hair yesterday, when I got up this morning, I had an entirely new attitude about myself.  I felt like I HAD to dress a little nicer/funkier if you will.  I had to make more of an effort on my makeup and hair because I had to make my outfit, makeup match my hair's badassness.  So today when I came into work, it wasn't in my traditional boring easy to wear yet bland outfit with only mascara on.  Nope, I have my bitch boots on with the four inch heels, my dark wash jeans and a cool ass jacket on.  I have eyeliner and lipstick on, which I NEVER bother with because I'm generally a low maint. kinda girl.   So yeah, I am walking tall and feeling good about myself today.  Why?  Because I added a few orange streaks in my hair and flipped my normal nonchalant attitude on its ass.

But the hubsters doesn't understand that by spending a little money I made myself feel like a million bucks.

Does anyone out there get this feeling too?  I've wasted too much time being bland since I've had kids.  I need to remember that I'm not a traditional soccer mom.  Nope - I'm wild and out there and who the fuck cares what the other hoity-toity people around the neighborhood think?   As long as I feel good.  That is all that matters.

Tell me about what you've done lately to make yourself feel good about yourself.

Orange you glad you did it?

So yeah, I followed through on my threat of orange highlights and here is the end result?
Whatta you think?  I feel about 10yrs younger in attitude.  Granted I now have to rock the attitude to not look like a shmoe who's trying to act outside of her approved age range.  LOL

Working on a collab

I'm really excited to be working with KatieCav on a collab for the Strictly Charlie contest.  So I can't say anything about it, since it's an anonymous contest, but we worked for almost 3hrs just flushing out the story on Gchat today and I had an absolute ball.  We ran through probably about ten ideas then whittled it down to one and then began outlining the story from there.  Granted, I didn't get any of my work done, but it was fun.  Now I just have to start writing it.  Which of course makes me a bit nervous now that someone else is relying on something that I'm supposed to be creating.  So yeah, nervous, excited and hopefully our two styles will compliment eachother.

Anyhow, keep your eyes peeled when you read the Strictly Charlie stories and see if you can find ours in the mix.

Feel like shaking things up

As anyone who reads some of my posts know, I'm a mom of two young kiddos (as both under 4yrs old) - and I live in a pretty conservative area.  But I wasn't always a soccer mom.  No, I had my punk phase and have always liked playing around with the color of my hair.
And for some inexplicable reason I'm obsessed with wanting to put some bright ass orange highlights in.
I have relatively short hair, and just want a funky ass cut with some funky ass color.  I think I may just have to ask the person who does my hair if they'd be willing to do something really out there for me.  I'd be the shocking soccer mom, right?  I just don't want to be bland boring old mom anymore.

I'm thinking about something like this.  Just highlights  - I don't have the balls to do all over color.  Not in the fourth decade of my life.  Really.  I have some tatts but not a sleeve or anything  that would mark me as the bad ass I really want to be.  lol.
